Congratulations to the Lady Bruins for winning to Owensboro Catholic Tournament.

Each spring, a group of talented young ladies hit the field. This team is a hard working, very dedicated, and heart-filled. They are the Ballard Lady Bruins. The softball team is made up of girls from the 6th grade to 12th grade. In the 2005 season, the Lady Bruins managed to make it to the state tournament, held in Owensboro, KY, but fell short in the championship game.  They were placed 2nd behind the home team, the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces. In the 2006 season, the Lady Bruins were ranked 32 in the nation and 2nd in the state.

With a rigorous schedule ahead of them, the Lady Bruins were not afraid of any opponents. Playing in 4 tournaments in 2006 and had faced teams that were nationally ranked as well, the girls were still unafraid of being beaten. With a record 29-8 of the Lady Bruins made it to regionals but managed to make it a short trip being beaten by Mercy Academy in the semi-finals. The team was lead by 5 seniors, where 1 has continued her career in at Bellarmine University.

The Lady Bruins are lead this year by seniors Jenni Ackerman, Katie Glasscock, Abby Mulloy, Rachel Peters, Brittany Mockbee, and Emily Taylor. With these girls leading the way Ballard will be a very experienced team in 2008. As always the girls have displayed the hard work, heart, emotion, and strong dedication to succeed by off-season training to enhance thier on field performance in speed, strenght, and agility. These girls play almost year around, working on their skills as a team so they may obtain the title of
